What is Software as a Service (SaaS); why does that matter to me?
SaaS is a software delivery method that allows data and applications to be accessed from any device with an internet connection and web browser. Commonly known as ‘cloud’ software, SaaS allows campuses to focus on big-picture items without worrying about software installation and maintenance of an on premise server. This eliminates the expense of hardware acquisition, provisioning and maintenance, and costs associated with software licensing management, installation and support. resero charges a monthly subscription fee that includes all maintenance, support, and new releases of both software and hardware.
What do you mean by monthly subscription?
Our monthly subscription is charged in place of an annual maintenance agreement and the expensive upfront costs for the software license and point-of-sale (POS) hardware. The monthly subscription for resero covers all maintenance, support, and new releases for both software and hardware.
How much will it cost?
Monthly subscriptions start at $1,000/month; your costs will vary based on your full-time equivalent (FTE) enrollment and selected options.
Is this a refreshed Sidewalk system?

I want to have input into what updates, upgrades, etc., my software provider makes to my system. How does resero handle new features and releases?
We like the way you think. We believe that a strong system is built by those who use it every day. In other words: You. New releases are scheduled twice a year, in the spring and fall, and those releases focus on features and updates suggested by users.
All my products have barcodes from my current system. Do I have to put new labels on everything?

I keep hearing about the South Dakota v Wayfair decision, and its impact on sales tax for online stores. Since resero has an online store, how does that affect me?
South Dakota v Wayfair is a landmark Supreme Court decision which grants individual states the authority to impose sales tax on out-of-state transactions. That means your store could be responsible for sales tax on purchases made from customers outside of your state, even if you didn’t collect the tax in the first place. To keep things simple, we partnered with TaxJar for all sales tax calculations, both in-store and online. Additionally, TaxJar offers a service that will fill out all applicable sales tax returns for you – all you need to do is sign.
I’ve been using the same credit card processor for years and have locked in low rates. Can I use them with resero?
Absolutely. Choice is one of our core beliefs, and if you have a great processor already, you’re under no obligation to move. Both in-store and online credit card transactions use the same gateway, so you’ll only need to set things up once. If you don’t have a credit card processor, take advantage of our negotiated competitive rates, or shop around. It’s completely your choice.

Depending on your student information system (SIS), your store can also allow department purchases through the same process and bill the accounts directly.

Additionally, we will offer devices that can be used to run your system from outside your store. Since resero is cloud-based, all you need for live system management is an internet connection.
Can I use my own hardware?
resero offers a full turnkey package that includes all hardware needed to run your store, with express replacement in case of failure included in your subscription. If you have existing hardware, our system experts will determine if it meets the minimum requirements. Keep in mind, using existing hardware can result in out-of-pocket expenses if it fails.
I’m not sure how I feel about my data in the cloud, is it safe?
Chances are your data is safer in the cloud than it is in a local data center. In fact, most of your personal information is already stored in the cloud through online banking, retirement accounts, insurance information, and everybody’s favorite: Netflix. Using Amazon Web Services (AWS), resero takes advantage of the largest cloud hosting service in the world. With multiple backups and pathways to your data, you will never have to worry about a local server going down again.
My IT department is always busy. How much work will they need to do?
Very little. As long as you have an internet connection, and power where you want to install your registers, you’re good to go. If your campus has firewall restrictions, we can provide a list of sites for them to whitelist.
