What's in a name?
When resero Retail Technologies was founded in 2018 as a subsidiary of the National Association of College Stores (NACS) we wanted a name for the business that reflected why we started this journey. Change in the higher ed retail market was already well underway, and we could see that many stores were having trouble adapting because they were in long-term contracts with out-of-date solutions. In too many cases vendors were slow to respond to the market shifts not because they had a better answer to them, but because they threatened entrenched revenue models. The status quo could not continue.
We wanted our solutions to free higher ed retail from its old binds, so we searched for a name that would reflect that belief –we found it in resero. resero is a form of the Latin word meaning “to unlock” which we have taken to heart, we make decisions based on the idea of unlocking a store’s success, unlocking the potential of the free market, and unlocking education. Freeing stores has become our mantra—creating and maximizing solutions that stay current because they’re in the cloud, solutions that stores choose because they are the best of breed, not because of who buys back their used books, solutions that support the educational mission at an affordable price now and in the future.
